The Spurs aren't your average basketball club. They are a team that doesn't rely on Superstars, but on teamwork. They have had 50+ wins for thirteen consecutive seasons. So, the question stands, why don't people take the Spurs seriously? Is it because they are a small market team? Is it because they would rather pass the ball for an open three than have a highlight dunk? It doesn't matter if ESPN, or other sports analysts count out the Spurs, they are a huge threat to the championship. Not only do they have a roster filled with playoff experience, they have one of the best, if not the best, coache in the league. Their pinpoint passing cannot be stopped easily, and their core trio of Duncan/Parker/Ginobili aren't going to slow down. Regardless of the Heat or Pacers reaching the NBA finals, they better take the Spurs seriously. They are 4-0 in the finals, after all.
Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, and Manu Ginobili are playing at a very high level. With their supporting cast complimenting their playing styles, what can't they accomplish in the playoffs? If it wasn't for injuries around the end of the regular season, the Spurs could have potentially gotten 60+ wins, joining the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Miami heat. They were among the top teams in the NBA in assists, and that isn't very surprising. What statistic shows how much of a great team the San Antonio Spurs are is the fact that they are a team that has a top five offense, and a top five defense. A team that does it on both sides of a court is a very dangerous scenario for any team facing them.
So, I hope the team that is facing the Spurs in the NBA finals are ready. Because, this is a team that can potentially upset the defending champions, the Miami Heat.
